One of western Jamaica's most wanted, Sadan Mullings, has been killed.

Mullings, otherwise called Sadam, was wanted for more than 20 murders and multiple shootings in Westmoreland and other parishes, the police said.

He was also wanted attacking the police with grenades in St. Ann earlier this year.

Saddam, 26, is from Elgin Town, Hanover.

The reputed gangster was shot and killed Saturday morning after he and his cronies reportedly fired on members of the security forces during an intense gun battle in Westmoreland.

The Corporate Communication Unit of the police force said that a cop escaped possible life-threatening injuries after a bullet lodged in his bullet proof vest. A police service vehicle was also extensively damaged from gunfire.

The cops said that an Uzi submachine gun and a Glock pistol were seized in the incident.
