Lover beaten for squeezing man's groin
A man was hauled before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for beating his lover during a dispute which he said occurred because she squeezed his injured groin.
Debido Smith, 44, of Pink Lane in Kingston, told the court that he was guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He claimed that on July 13, he and his 22-year-old lover were at a party where he injured his groin trying to lift her up while dancing.
He further told the court that later in the night when they got home, his lover started to beat him in his groin, and he hit her in retaliation.
However, the complainant said they got home from the party at about midnight and Smith asked her to put ice on his injured groin, which she did.
She reported that while icing his groin, Smith said disrespectful things to her, to which she responded in similar fashion.
She reported that he became enraged and started squeezing her neck. She said that she responded by grabbing him in his groin area and started squeezing it while calling out to her neighbour for help.
The complainant reported that Smith continued squeezing her neck until she fell. He then bit her fingers, hit her in her forehead, and punched her in the eye.
She also stated that her nose started to bleed during the ordeal.
However, the complainant told the presiding judge Chester Crooks that she was not interested in proceeding with the case.
Crooks warned Smith, saying, "Don't let me see you back in court for this kind of thing."
Smith gave his assurance that it would not happen again.
