Man freed of wounding charge
Linstead resident Shawn Smith was freed of a wounding charge in the St Catherine Parish Court, following a successful no-case submission by his lawyer.
When Smith appeared on Tuesday before parish judge Grace Henry-McKenzie, the defence was told that the police had not established a case as the accused wasn't properly identified.
This was after attorney-at-law Walter Melbourne argued that the complainant was intoxicated.
He said that a medical doctor had testified to that, and that the complainant did not see his attacker clearly.
Allegations are that in December 2014 about 4 a.m., the complainant was attacked and stabbed in the shoulder.
A report was made and Smith was charged with unlawful wounding.
He made numerous court appearances and maintained his innocence throughout.
