Phillips promises help for small businesses

People's National Party (PNP) president Dr Peter Phillips yesterday said that the next time his party forms the government it will ensure that small business owners are able to thrive.

Phillips, speaking at his party's 79th annual conference at the National Arena, said emphasis will be given to development of entrepreneurship and expansion in the micro, small and medium enterprises; and new business nodes throughout rural Jamaica.

 

Creative industries

 

"When we talk about small business, we include non-traditional such as music, fashion, sports and the creative industries. We will promote innovation, creativity and wealth creation for young people across the range of these sectors," Phillips said.

"We will also set up a fund to finance innovative intellectual capital-driven businesses to grow brand Jamaica in a sustainable way," Phillips said.
