RIP Jermaine

September 26, 2017
Jermaine Barrett lost his battle with cancer.

"I really want to get better," Jermaine Barrett told THE STAR last April.

The Mount Salem resident was in fierce battle with chondrosarcoma, a cancerous tumour.

Barrett, a chef, and many well-wishers appealed for help and persons rally to his assistance. Among those who responded was Prime Minister Andrew Holness who assisted in him being sent overseas for treatment.

Following the successful removal by a team of doctors in New York in July, 2016, the 28-year-old Barrett lost his left eye. However, he was still happy at the prospects of returning to a normal, tumour-free life.

But things took a turn for the worst last month when doctors have said they can do no more for him. He was home from hospital and brought back to Jamaica where he spent his last days being cared for by his family.
