September 30, 2017

Two policemen who were charged with grievous sexual assault nine years ago were freed when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

The cops, Corporal Hopeton Reid and Constable Jermaine Anderson of the Portmore Police Station, were found not guilty by Parish Judge Simone Wolfe-Reece.

Allegations before the court are that in 2008, both accused were on duty when they held the complainant and a pastor in a compromising position. The cops allegedly held on to to the persons and made certain financial demands for them to be released.

The complainant was allegedly taken to get the cash but when the alleged sum was not forthcoming, the woman was allegedly forced to perform oral sex on the accused.

A report was subsequently made to the police and both accused were charged with grievous sexual assault.
