Funeral fight leads to gun find

The Darliston police seized one Interarms 9mm pistol and nine 9mm rounds of ammunition and took a man into custody in Orange Hill, Darliston, Westmoreland, on Sunday.

Reports are that at about 4:30 p.m., a group of mourners were at a funeral when an altercation developed between the accused and a man. The accused pulled a firearm, which fell to the ground.

It was retrieved and handed over to a police officer who was at the funeral. He contacted the Darliston police who responded, and the firearm and the accused were handed to them.

The man was subsequently taken into custody. The man is expected to be charged with breaches of the Firearms Act.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
