Residents in downtown Kingston are appealing to the Government to address the recent flooding situation at the intersection of Harbour Street and West Street.

Complaints coming in to THE STAR are that since the recent road construction in the area began, there has been flooding. The excess water results in mosquito infestation.

Donovan Scarlet, a resident of the West Street area for 16 years, said that this is the first time residents are experiencing this situation.

Scarlet said that the drainage system built by the Government was not done properly which results in the road being flooded.

Sections of nearby Pechon Street are also affected by flooding.

Attempts to contact Stephen Shaw, communications and customer services manager at the National Works Agency, proved futile as calls to his cell phone went unanswered.
