St. James left licking its fingers

The third staging of Lick YuhFinga took place at the St James Parish Library last week as the staff showcased their culinary skills.

"Lick YuhFinga is an activity geared towards showcasing the culinary diversity of Jamaica and the culinary proficiency of the staff at the St James Parish Library," said Glenroy Myers, the regional field loans officer at Kris An Charles Investments Company Limited.

"The staff prepared traditional Jamaican dishes such as tie-a-leaf, bread, potato and cornmeal puddings, stewed and jerked chicken back, plum juice, lemonade, bulgar porridge, drops and grater cake, roasted bread fruit and fried dumplings, which were all on display."

In addition to the impressive display of food items, those present were treated to several musical items by students, who used food as their themes. The items were performed by students from Chetwood Memorial Primary School, Green Pond Primary School, St Mary's Preparatory School and St James Preparatory School. Students from Herbert Morrison Technical High School, Mount Alvernia High and Catherine Hall Primary School were also in attendance.

The event, which was staged on the birthday of Jamaica's cultural icon, Randolph 'Mas Ran/Ranny' Williams, saw the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission using the event to highlight the great man's contribution to the performing arts.
