$8 million worth of weed seized

Derrique Reid pleaded guilty to drug charges after he was found with some 400 pounds of similarly compressed ganja.

Ganja with an estimated street value of J$8 million was seized during an operation by the Narcotics Police in Comma Pen, St Elizabeth, on Monday.

Reports are that about 6:30 a.m., detectives conducted a special anti-narcotics operation during which they found the ganja and other paraphernalia relating to the narcotics trade.

The weed weighed more than 1800.

The Narcotics Police are appealing to anyone who may have information about these illicit activities to call the Area 3 Narcotics Office at 635-2617, Narcotics Headquarters at 923-5729, Police Emergency Control Centre at 119, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.
