Woman's body found on the road
Detectives assigned to the St. James Police Division are sleuthing through evidence to ascertain what led to the death of a woman, whose body was found along the roadway in Anchovy in the parish on Saturday.
According to the communication arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the body is of a Caucasian woman, was clad in a grey coloured blouse and a pair of blue jeans shorts.
The Anchovy police said that at about 9:15 a.m., residents stumbled upon the body and alerted them. On their arrival, the body was seen lying along the roadway with its throat slashed.
The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.
Meanwhile, the bloodletting in the parish continues on the weekend after one man was killed and four others hospitalised in a shooting incident in Cambridge.
The dead man has been identified as Aon Salmon of Ducketts Road in Cambridge.
According to the police report, Salmon was among a group of relatives standing by the roadway when a white Toyota Corolla drove up. It is alleged that men, armed with rifles and handguns, alighted the car and opened fire.
When the shooting subsided, Salmon and four others were seen suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital where Salmon succumbed to his injuries.
St James has recorded close to 300 murders since the beginning of the year.
