Cop uses shoes to smuggle weed into prison
A district constable, who was attached to the Detention and Courts Division, has been arrested and charged with possession of ganja and introducing contraband into a penal institution last Saturday.
He is 57-year-old Dale Edwards, who was assigned to the Horizon Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road, Kingston 14.
Reports from the Denham Town police are that at about 9:35 a.m., Edwards was in the process of entering a cell when he was stopped and searched by a correctional officer. Closer examination revealed one parcel of ganja wrapped with masking tape hidden inside the boot he was wearing.
He was subsequently arrested and charged by a team of officers assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division.
He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, December 14.
