More than 100 children from the central Clarendon community of Bucknor were treated to a Christmas movie and an early visit from Santa Claus.

The event, sponsored by FLOW, was organised by the Bucknor Concerned Citizens Benevolent Society and the community Safety & Security Branch (CSSB) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

"This year, we wanted to bring the magic of Christmas to children in communities that have a challenging crime situation," Courtney Bell, community programmes manager at the FLOW Foundation said.

Inspector Owen Brown, sub-officer in charge of the CSSB in Clarendon, said that "a child being happy at Christmas contributes to a parent being happy, which makes it is less likely that we will have crime and violence".
