The police have arrested a suspect in the shooting spree that claimed the lives of two persons and wounded six others at the Kings Chapel Seventh-day Adventist Church in east Kingston, two Sundays ago.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), Senior Superintendent McArthur Sutherland, says the suspect was picked up during an operation in west Kingston on the weekend.

Sutherland said the police are searching for three others in connection with the shooting.

Twenty-year-old Ashley Hopbson and 34-year-old Delroy Salesman, both of Kingston 14 addresses, were pronounced dead at hospital, following the shooting at the church located on Windward Road.

Hopbson and Salesman were among scores of mourners attending a funeral.

Six other persons sustained injuries in the incident.

Meanwhile, a third person has died from the shooting.

The deceased, who succumbed last Thursday, was among seven persons hospitalised from bullet wounds sustained during the attack.

His name has not been released.
