'Cloned' car sold to cop
The Old Harbour police in St Catherine have arrested and charged a man, who allegedly sold a 'cloned' motor car to a policeman.
Charged with uttering forged documents and obtaining money by means of false pretence is Dwayne Finikin, a 32-year-old unemployed man of Westchester in Portmore, St Catherine.
Finikin was charged on Monday.
THE STAR understands that Finikin sold a Honda Fit motor car to the complainant for $650,000.
The vehicle was bearing an up-to-date license disc and other documents showing that it was fit for the road and had been properly insured.
However, when the insurance expired earlier this month and the complainant went to Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) to regularise the documents, it was discovered that a vehicle with the same make, chassis number and engine number was already existing in the TAJ system.
The documents were seized, and an investigation was launched. This resulted in Finikin being contacted.
Following an intensive probe, it was revealed that there is another similar vehicle that rightfully belongs to someone else.
It was revealed that the accused managed to clone the other vehicle and secure forged documentation for it.
