Bearer chopped, robbed in New Kingston
A bearer was chopped on the arm before he was robbed of a large sum of cash yesterday morning.
The bearer was attempting to make a deposit at the Sagicor Bank on Dominica Drive.
A security guard who works nearby told THE STAR that the robbery took place after 8 a.m.
He said the robbers approached the man, attacked him, and then escaped with the money.
While holding the injured arm, the bearer tried to chase down the robbers but could not catch up.
The bearer is known to make his drop-offs the same day every week.
According to the police, the bearer was taken to the hospital, following the incident.
In a statement, Sagicor Bank said that it was aware of the incident and said it empathised with the young man and wished for his speedy recovery from his injuries.
The statement continued by encouraging clients and the wider public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when conducting their banking transactions.
