Foreigner slapped with drug charges
A 31-year-old Bermudan national was arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act on Sunday at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
He is Paulos Francis of Loyal Hill, Denishire, Bermuda. Francis has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine.
Reports are that about 5 p.m., Francis checked in at the airport and attempted to board a flight destined to Belgium, when detectives from the Narcotics Division conducted a search of his suitcase when they found a false compartment.
One rectangular shaped parcel, containing white powdery substance resembling cocaine, weighing approximately three and a half kilograms with an estimated street value of more than $J4.3 million was seized.
Francis is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Friday, April 6.
