A Ruger 9mm pistol that police say belonged to Karen Cleary-Brown, who was murdered late November in Boscobel, St Mary, has been recovered by the police in the parish.

Delivering the Jamaica Constabulary Force's (JCF) report at the monthly meeting of the St Mary Municipal Corporation in Port Maria on Thursday, acting commander for St Mary, Deputy Superintendent Dalian Clarke, said that Sheldon Hewitt, the man charged with killing Brown, took the police to where the gun was located and told them it belonged to the woman.

This was before Brown’s body was discovered in a shallow grave on her property in Boscobel, St Mary.

Clarke confirmed that Hewitt, a 32-year-old mason of Spanish Town, St Catherine, and Boscobel, St Mary, addresses, confessed to killing Brown and was subsequently charged. The post-mortem revealed that the woman was stabbed nine times.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Clarke said that Brown was not a United Kingdom (UK) resident, but a Jamaican, who was married to a British national. It is said that he was in the process of filing for her.
