Corporate Area water woes to ease

January 16, 2019
A worker carrying out construction along Mandela Highway in St Andrew points to eroded pipelines. Damage to the major Rio Cobre-Tulloch Spring Water Transmission Main along the highway has led to water disruptions in sections of the Corporate Area and St Catherine.

The National Water Commission (NWC) says customers in sections of the corporate area and St Catherine will soon see a gradual resumption of their water supply.

According to the NWC, it has completed repairs to a major transmission main along the Mandela Highway in St Catherine. The pipeline, which takes water from the Rio Cobre and Tulloch Spring, was damaged last weekend as a result of road improvement activities taking place under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme.

The damage to the pipeline disrupted the water supply in sections of Portmore and other parts of St Catherine as well as parts of Kingston and St Andrew such as Spanish Town Road, Marcus Garvey Drive, Molynes Road, Washington Boulevard, and sections of downtown Kingston.
