The community of Stony Hill in St Andrew registered its first murder since the start of the year, after a man was killed in the area yesterday.

Information reaching THE STAR is that a tense calm now exists in the area following the death of 27-year-old Javorie Francis, otherwise known as 'Pirano'.

Reports from the St Andrew North police are that Francis was shot and killed by unknown assailants about 7:30 p.m. in a section of the community known as Brooks Level.

Residents reportedly heard loud explosion and made checks when they stumbled upon Francis' lifeless body.

The police were then alerted, and the body removed to the morgue.

A resident told THE STAR that Francis, who was known to the community, managed to escape an attack in March 2017. However, he managed to run from his attackers after being shot.
