Indonesia bans popular songs
Ariana Grande’s track Love Me Harder and Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You have been banned in Indonesia for being too “pornographic”.
A selection of western pop tracks including Grande’s 2014 duet with The Weeknd, from her second studio album My Everything, and 28-year-old Sheeran’s 2017 record from his album Divide have been deemed “obscene” and subsequently banned in Indonesia’s West Java province – which is an extremely conservative area of the country – just two months before Sheeran is due to play in the city of Jakarta.
The West Java broadcasting commission singled out 85 songs, including 17 English language pop songs, which they claim include offensive adult content.
The broadcasting company insisted that the list is more of a guideline than a regulation; however, they have warned that radio and TV stations could be sanctioned if they fail to comply.
Other tracks included on the list of banned songs are The Killers’ Mr Brightside, DJ Khaled’s Wild Thoughts, and Bruno Mars’ That’s What I Like.
Elba wants to keep ‘sexiest’ title for life
Idris Elba is determined to keep his People ’s Sexiest Man Alive title until he dies.
The 46-year-old actor received the magazine’s annual honour in 2018, and he has joked he will continue to reign as the world’s top hunk because the title dictates him to be the sexiest man for as long as he lives.
Appearing on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Wednesday, he said: “Here’s my philosophy on this. It says Sexiest Man Alive. So as long as I’m alive, I’m still the sexiest.”
During his appearance on the talk show, he discussed his proposal to Sabrina Dhowre and how he had to change his plans after his original scheme fell through.
He said: “It was like two days before Valentine’s and I had this ring in my pocket, it was burning a hole. And then Valentine’s came and she had to fly somewhere, so there was a likelihood I wasn’t going to see her on Valentine’s Day. So I made this movie, and Sab was on the set every day. She knew the whole crew. So at the screening, it was a private screening for the cast and crew, and I just dropped to one knee. It was very nerve-wracking.”
Khaled hosting kids awards for son
DJ Khaled wanted to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards for his son.
The 43-year-old music producer has revealed that he signed up for the presenting gig on March 23 to impress his two-year-old son Asahd – whom he has with with wife Nicole Tuck – who will be watching the ceremony.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: “The reason why I wanted to be the host of the Kids’ Choice Awards is because I’m a father. Now, I’m going to be able to host and my son can see me host and be like, ‘My daddy’s hosting [the] Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Anything that makes the kids happy, that’s what I’m about.”
Khaled is nominated for Favourite Collaboration for No Brainer with Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo.
