Road fatalities increase
Two men were killed in two separate motor vehicle accidents in central parishes on Tuesday.
In the first incident, Shaun Shand, 30, of Scott's district, Milk River, in Clarendon, died from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision on Scott's main road in the parish.
Reports from the May Pen police are that about 5:30 a.m., Shand, who was driving a black Ramco motorcycle, allegedly lost control of it and collided in the rear of a Toyota Hiace minibus that was travelling in the same direction.
Shand was thrown from his motorcycle and received multiple injuries. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In the second incident, Noel Facey, 22, a mason of Springfield district in St Elizabeth, died from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision on the Parrotee main road in the parish.
Reports from the Black River police are that about 9 p.m., Facey was driving a grey Toyota Corolla motor car with a male passenger aboard.
On reaching a section of the roadway, Facey allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided in a tree.
Both men were taken to hospital where Facey was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.
