Crawford, Haughton named to Senate
Damion Crawford, who recently resigned from the Senate in order contest a by-election in Eastern Portland, is set to return to the Upper House.
People's National Party (PNP) president Dr Peter Phillips yesterday announced that Crawford as well as economist Dr Andre Haughton would be heading to the Senate. Haughton is the party's caretaker for West Central St James. He is set to replace Noel Sloley, who Phillips said has indicated a desire to demit office.
The naming of the new senators took place at a special meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), held at the University of the West Indies. The NEC is the highest decision-making body outside of the annual conference.
Phillips told the NEC that he would soon be making changes to the shadow cabinet.
