Trelawny wanted men in custody
Two men, one of whom was being sought for murder, and the other for shooting and wounding, were taken into custody by the Trelawny police on the weekend.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are 39-year-old Romaine Roberts, otherwise called 'Country' of Jackson Town, and 21-year-old Odran Francis, otherwise called 'Amen', a labourer of Duansvale district, both in Trelawny.
Reports by the Trelawny police are that about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, a police team went in search of Roberts in Jackson Town.
The lawmen went to a house where the accused was seen, and a search of the house led to the seizure of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, fitted with a magazine containing eight live rounds.
The police say Roberts is the prime suspect in the murder of Trevor Thompson, in Pond Side district, in Trelawny, on April 3.
Meanwhile, Francis reportedly shot and injured a man in Duansvale community on Sunday morning and then fled the community.
After receiving information that Francis was attempting to leave the community in a motor car, the police intercepted the vehicle at a roadblock along a section of the Duansvale roadway.
Francis was searched and cops found an illegal firearm on his person.
Both men were taken into custody. Investigators say both will be interviewed and slapped with additionally charges.
