Conductor murdered in Spanish Town
More than 40 spent shells were recovered from the streets of Spanish Town, St Catherine, yesterday after gangsters stormed the old capital and shot and killed one man.
The dead man has been identified as Demar Reid, 19, a bus conductor of Hopedale in the parish.
The gangsters, who were armed with rifles, drove into the town and fired shots in the direction of Reid, who was standing at the intersection of Burke and King streets.
The St Catherine Major Investigation Division has launched a probe in the matter, which they have linked to an internal feud within the Clansman gang.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffiths, head of the Area 5 police, said that gang activities in the Spanish Town area have intensified in the past few days. He said that the police are putting strategies in place to deal with the matter.
