Denbigh High celebrates 50 in style
Principal of Denbigh High in Clarendon Janice Julal said the staff and students have pulled out all the stops as they celebrate the institution's 50th anniversary.
The year-long celebrations are geared to reach present and past students, parents and teachers.
They have even started to sell items such as school dolls, school bags, school leather jackets and armbands.
"We thought that it (the dolls) would be a visible reminder, especially to past students of the Denbigh uniform, and just to engender some school spirit to having this tangible reminder of what they would look like in the uniform," she said.
The jackets carry the hashtag #aquapride, a salute to the school's main colour.
Appealing to parents of past and current students is one of Julal's aims, as she believes that the school is able to thrive off the parent-school relationship.
"The stakeholder partnership is very important to us. Our theme 'Denbigh High School soaring to greater heights through home-school partnership', was developed by the parents at the PTA. As a way to include parents, we have armbands that say 'Aqua Parent,' to pull them in closer to let them know that they are still part of the Denbigh family," she said.
