Man charged with murder and wounding
A 20-year-old Westmoreland man has been charged with the murder of one man and the injuring of five other persons in April. Daine Dellop, otherwise called 'Cuz', of Three Miles River was nabbed last Saturday by the police.
Acting on information, the police carried out an operation on Seaton Crescent in the parish about 11 a.m. Dellop was nabbed, and questioned in the presence of his attorney on Monday.
He was then charged with the murder of 56-year-old Anthony Tomlinson, otherwise called 'Fowler', a taxi operator of Burnt Savannah district, Westmoreland.
He was also charged with four counts of wounding with intent, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 5:05 p.m. on April 1, a gunman allegedly opened gunfire at a crowd of people along the Great Georges Street roadway in the town.
When the shooting subsided, four persons, including a six-year-old boy, were seen with gunshot wounds.
The police were summoned and the injured persons taken to hospital where Tomlinson was pronounced dead.
The child and one of the men were admitted in stable condition and the other two injured persons were treated and released.
One 9mm pistol with a magazine containing one 9mm cartridge was found at the scene and seized.
Arrangements are now being made for Dellop's court appearance.
