St James Man Charged with Shooting With Intent


Twenty-six-year-old Mendes Baker of Blue Hole in Mountpelier, St. James was charged with shooting with Intent on Thursday, November 28.

Reports are that Saturday, November 23, about 12:45 p.m., Baker allegedly visited the complainant’s home and opened gunfire at him.

While the complainant was at the police station giving a statement, Baker turned up and was pointed out as the shooter. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

His court date is being finalised.


Ananda Alert activated for missing teen

An Ananda Alert has been activated for fifteen-year-old Jameel Levy of Tyre, Troy District, Trelawny who has been missing since Wednesday, November 27.

He is of brown complexion, stout build and is about 148 centimetres (4 feet 10 inches) tall.

Reports from the Falmouth Police are that Jameel was last seen in Christiana, Manchester at about 12:00 p.m., wearing a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt. All efforts to locate her have proven futile.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Jameel Levy is being asked to contact the Falmouth Police at (876) 954-3271, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest Police Station.


17-year-old charged with murder and other offences

Detectives assigned to the St. Andrew Central Police Division charged a man for the Wednesday, August 14 murder of 24-year-old Javron Henriquez, otherwise called ‘Whiteman’, of Red Hills, Kingston 10.

Charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Murder and Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition is 17-year-old Christopher Lowers of the same community.

Reports are that on about 1:24 a.m., Henriquez was walking along the roadway with a friend when they were approached by gunmen who opened gunfire at them. When the shooting subsided, Henriquez was found with gunshot wounds. The police were summoned and he was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other person managed to escape unharmed.

An investigation was subsequently launched and Lowers was arrested and charged in relation to the incident.

He is scheduled to appear before the court at a later date.


Bodies found in shallow grave in St Thomas identified

The bodies of two decomposing men, that were found in Pondside, St Thomas in October, were identified on Friday, November 29.

They are 27-year-old Khadeja Rhoden of Pondside, St. Thomas and 24-year-old Ackeem Williams of Port Morant in the parish.

Reports from the Yallahs Police are that residents led officers to shallow graves in Pondside in the parish where Rhoden and Williams were found. The scene was processed and the bodies removed to the morgue.

Rhoden’s body was found on Thursday, October 17 about 1:10 p.m., while Williams’ body was found on Thursday, October 30 about 1:30 p.m.

Fatal collision in St Catherine

Forty-year-old Omar Palmer, chef of Lily View in Tryall Heights in St. Catherine died as a result of injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident along the Thompson Pen main road in the parish on Friday, November 29.

Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that 5:30 a.m., Palmer was driving a Toyota Probox motorcar along the roadway when on reaching a section of the roadway he allegedly failed to keep left and collided into the path of a Izuzu motor truck travelling in the opposite direction. Palmer sustained several injuries and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
