Central Village tense after two men killed in police shooting

The streets were bare and people who saw the news team quickly dispersed into their houses in Zambia, Central Village, St Catherine minutes after a police involve fatal shooting yesterday morning. 

However, scores of policemen and soldiers had gathered at a section of the community where two men has been shot dead.

Few residents peeked through their windows.

A few others, who eventually came outside said they knew nothing about the shooting.

According to Superintendent Leon Clunis, the operations officer for the State of Emergency in St Catherine, the area is tense.

"We had four murders in less than 24 hours and that is really serious for the community. We have put in extra security in the area," he said.

Clunis said security personnel were going through the area when they were pounced upon two men who opened fire at them.

According to Clunis, his cops shot the two men, identified as 'Chucky' and 'Ratface'.

They were pronounced dead at hospital.

Ratface was on the police wanted list.
