Food vendor murdered in Linstead

A food vendor was shot and killed some time after 3 p.m. along Fletcher's Avenue in Linstead Town, St Catherine, yesterday.

"I saw about three man ... and a nuff shot me hear. Me nuh see when them fire, but when me turn round me see the man pon the grung a bleed out," a man who was at the scene told THE STAR.

The Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said that the victim is known only as Mr Anderson.

Persons who claimed to have interacted with the victim said that he was a decent man.

"Him always in the area selling food ... Him up yah every day. Him is a hard-working man weh a make him honest bread and a live right," another person said.

The shooting took place about five minutes, via car, from the Linstead Police Station. This fact infuriated residents of the bustling town.

"Look how close the station deh! Dem man yah no have no heart ... dem wicked," a frustrated woman said.
