Police Officer killed in motor vehicle crash
Investigators assigned to the Lacovia Police Station in St Elizabeth are probing the circumstances surrounding a collision that claimed the life of 37-year-old Omar Morris, Deputy Superintendent of Police of a St. Catherine address.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, July 29.
Reports are that about 8:15 p.m., Morris was driving his Honda Accord motor car along the Shaws main road in the parish. It is alleged that he was attempting to overtake a Toyota Hiace motor bus when he crashed into the motor bus.
Both vehicles hit the embankment and the Honda Accord motor car careened off the roadway and ended up in the river below.
Both drivers were assisted to the hospital, where Morris succumbed to his injuries. The other driver was admitted.
