Two Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) corporals are in custody following a shootout with cops in St Elizabeth last night.

They were held transporting more than 2,000 pounds of weed in a JDF service vehicle.

Police sources say two firearms were taken from them.

The soldiers, who are currently locked up at the Lacovia Police Station, reportedly fired shots at narcotics police, who had reportedly received a tip regarding the illegal contraband.

The JDF service vehicle used to transport the ganja was damaged in the incident and was subsequently seized.
