Nightly curfew extended until March 1

The Government has extended the islandwide curfew until Monday, March 1.

The nightly curfew that was in place expired this morning. 

Accordingly the curfew will commence at 8 pm tonight Wednesday, February 24, 2021 until 5 am the following morning, ending at 5 a.m Monday, March 1, 2021.

The public gathering limit remains at 10 persons until February 28. 

Additionally the Education Ministry has advised schools that only students preparing for exams at Grades 6, 11, 12 and 13 should attend face-to-face classes, while other students remain engaged through the established online, and distance-learning modalities. 

The government says an announcement regarding other measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act due to expire on February 28, will be made in short order, to take effect on March 1.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, has encouraged persons to stay wihtin their homes as much as possible and minimise movement to only essential activities to help to play their part in curbing the current spike of COVID-19 in the island.
