Elderly men buying dildos to please partners
Elderly men who can no longer 'keep it up' are flocking to buy male strap-on dildos to spice up their sex lives.
Sophia, who makes a living from selling sex toys, says that those dildos are among her bestsellers, as they are perfect for men who have 'challenges'.
"There are men within the 70 and so on age group who will buy the male strap-on because they may be impotent or is just at the age where they are unable to keep it up anymore. It gives them a sense of confidence and they are able to please their wives or girlfriends. Men in those age groups will also purchase the masturbator, which is the fake vagina, and penis pump as they use the pump to strengthen the muscles in their penis," she said. Sophia stressed that the dildos are purchased mostly by heterosexual men and are used as a sex aid for couples.
"I am expecting an increase in sales as Valentine's Day approaches. The older guys are expected to come in. There are times when couples will order or a female will order for her husband, and so on. The senior citizens are still getting their groove on with a bit of assistance," she said.
Sophia said she ventured into the sex toy business over five years ago because she needed an additional income and would often listen to others speaking about their interest in the products.
"The sales used to be more before COVID, but we all know that every business got a pinch from the virus. It varies because there are times when the sales will go steady and another time it is slow. However, I will see an increase in sales on special days such as Christmas, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, birthdays, and so on. Persons are more liberal and are not afraid to explore," she said.
Sophia said that the Rose Toy vibrator is also a favourite among the women, as, with its various components, it can stimulate the nipples, clitoris, vagina or any sensitive points.
The adult novelty industry is said to be worth more than US$20 billion annually worldwide.
