Alleged underwear thief charged

A St Ann hotel worker is currently awaiting his court date behind bars, after he was arrested and charged for allegedly stealing several items, including underwear.

He is 26-year-old Javier Amos, of Lancewood district in Ocho Rios, St Ann. 

According to the police, about 3:00 p.m. on September 13, cops were on patrol in the Lancewood district when they accosted Amos and searched him. 

The police say several items were found that matched the description of goods that were reported stolen from a house in the community earlier that day. 

When Amos could not account for the items, he was arrested.

During the investigation that followed, Amos was implicated in a second incident of housebreaking in the community that occurred about 10:00 a.m. that same day. 

In that incident, the occupants reported that the culprit broke a grille, entered and stole underwear, cologne and $50,000. 

Amos was charged on Tuesday, September 20, after he was interviewed. 

His court date is being finalised.
