Police seize illegal guns in early morning operation

Two illegal firearms were seized this morning during an early morning operation the St Andrew South Police confirmed.

The weapons were found on a premises located on Fitzgerald Avenue in Whitfield Town, Kingston.

Senior Superintendent for the division Kirk Ricketts confirms that the search began about 5:30 a.m. and lasted for roughly two hours.

“Two pistols. One Glock and one Smith and Wesson Springfield pistol,” SSP Ricketts told The STAR were seized.

The weapons were reportedly found in a back yard.

The police also unearthed 34 rounds of ammunition during the search.

No arrest has been made.

The STAR understands that shots were reportedly fired in the community at a recent candle light vigil and the security forces have been keeping a close watch on the space.
