Maryland retain Hanover Primary volleyball title

Maryland All Age School successfully defended their Hanover/JaVA/Philip Greenland Developmental Volleyball Championship title with another clean sheet as the 2015 edition was completed with the second leg at Bethel Primary & Junior High, Hopewell last Thursday.

Led by Captain and MVP Tyriq Lewis, Maryland bested Bethel 43-27, the much improved Chambers Pen Primary 39-21, and Mount Hannah Primary 42-31 to take the title for the second consecutive time in the three-year history of the event.

Bethel turned the tables on Mount Hannah beating them 38-31 and Chambers Pen 45-24 to claim second place over Mount Hannah on points differential after both teams ended with nine points.

Davor Reid of Bethel earned the President's Maad Skills Award, even as Mount Hannah grabbed third spot after stopping Chambers Pen 38-31.

Maryland and Bethel will represent the parish at the national finals on Thursday.
