Tight race in RSPL

After 14 rounds of matches, the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) is as close as it gets.

Only five points separate the top four clubs, while there is a 10 point difference between eighth and first.

At the foot of the table, the competition is intense with Rivoli (11), Waterhouse (13), Cavalier (13) and UWI (16), battling to avoid the drop.

Boys' Town, Harbour View, Tivoli Gardens (18 points each) and Reno (19) are within touching distance of either end of the table.

Leaders Portmore United have been the most consistent team over the last five games.

The St Catherine club registered four straight wins before they were held to a 0-0 draw by Waterhouse on Sunday.

Before Montego Bay United losing their top-of-the-table meeting with Portmore two weeks ago, the former champions were the inform team with seven wins and three draws.

Portmore are the only team to beat MoBay this season, and they have done so in their two meetings.

MoBay (25) had a great chance to rejoin Portmore (28) at the top of the standings, as they were down to face Cavalier last night.

Arnett Gardens and Humble Lion are yet to hit their best form but have kept pace with the front-runners. The two are tied on 23 points.

Rivoli, Cavalier, Waterhouse and UWI are fighting to escape relegation. Of the four teams UWI are having the best run with two wins, two draws and a loss in their last five.
