The Editor, Johnny Handsome shun Seeking My Dream
STAR Post To Post Pick-6 tipsters, The Editor and Johnny Handsome, November's monthly incentive winner, have departed from their colleagues' across-the-board endorsement of SEEKING MY DREAM for today's $13.5m Supreme Ventures Limited Diamond Mile.
The Editor is backing tried-and-proven PERFECT NEIGHBOUR, who defeated UPPA TUNE to win the 1400-metre Gold Cup.
Meanwhile, Johnny, fresh from November's one-length win over Jimmie and Indian Flame in the STAR Post To Post Pick-6 Tipsters Competition, believes UPPA TUNE will defy topweight and the additional furlong to blind rivals with speed.
"Even though a horse such as SEEKING MY DREAM has run well recently, he will always be close to the pace, so a run-on horse like PERFECT NEIGHBOUR will be coming at them in the final 200 to 300 metres and will be hard to contain," said The Editor.
"PERFECT NEIGHBOUR has been campaigning with topweight in the top class. The three-year-olds are coming to the top class for the first time. They will have to get the pace of the class quickly. I don't believe they can do that in one race," he said, adding that horses such as FORTUNEONEHUNDRED, UPPA TUNE and PETE'SWILDONE "are held by the handicaps".
Johnny said the track conditions will suit UPPA TUNE's running style.
"I believe the track is running fast. I noticed last week that 90 per cent of the races were won by speed horses. I also liked how he bypassed the Coca Cola Mile. I believe that was a tactical move by the connections. He will report fresher than all, including those who took part in the Superstakes," he said.
"In addition to the track conditions, a number of horses are too close to him in the weights. He is also perfectly drawn. I see him crippling the field from halfway out," he added.
