Taylor in good early season form
Calabar High's World Youth 400 metres champion, Christopher Taylor, has started the new track and field season with a bang.
Competing at the Tyler Mason Track and Field meet last Saturday on the newly-laid track at G. C. Foster College, the Class Two athlete clocked 21.33 seconds over 200 metres for the fastest time of the day in the event. His teammate, Tyreke Wilson, won his heat in 22.59 for the second fastest time in the class with St. Jago High's Anthony Cox , third in 22.75.
St Jago's boys had good results on the track. Colin Sewell led the way in Class One with a 48.09 clocking over 400m with his teammate, Sean Bailey finished second overall in 49.06.
Daniel Chambers was the best among Class Three as he took a 200m, 400m double.
In the 200 metres he stopped the clock at 22.91 ahead of his teammate Treomario Edwards 23.98. Chambers closed the double by winning the one lap event in 52.99.
St Jago's Shamar Barnes was fastest in the Class One 200m in 21.90 with his teammate Sewell clocking 21.95.
Among the females Vere Technical's Brittney Anderson stole the show in Class Three. She first won the long jump with a leap of 5.92m the best on the day by a female jumper. She returned to clock the fastest time in her class in the 200m with 24.87.
