Four men see red as Arnett beat Tivoli

In a fractious encounter which saw four men from either team being shown red cards before and after the final whistle, Arnett Gardens defeated Tivoli Gardens 3-2 in a Red Stripe Premier League encounter at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex, yesterday.

The score was a reversal of the scoreline the last time the teams met in the competition, when Tivoli Gardens defeated Arnett Gardens 3-2.

Jermaine Johnson opened the scoring early hitting the net in the third minute for the hosts. Kemal Malcolm, who scored all three goals for Arnett Gardens, then equalised in the 27th, before scoring a 36th-minute penalty.

Junior Flemmings leveled things for Tivoli with a 51st- minute goal from the penalty box, before Malcolm sent Arnett Gardens ahead for the final time in minute 85.

Two minutes later Tivoli Gardens Rodico Ellington and Arnett Gardens Dameri Deacon saw red and were sent off.


Flemmings later saw himself on the receiving end of a red card when he and Renae Lloyd of Arnett Gardens got into an altercation after the game. Both players received red cards.

Meanwhile, Portmore United continued their march through the Red Stripe Premier League second round with a 1-0 victory over Humble Lion in their encounter at the Effortville Community Centre.

Ewan Grandison scored the winner for Portmore in the 77th minute as the team moved to 34 points in the league.

At the Barbican field, Boys' Town defeated the UWI FC 2-1 thanks to goals by Andre Dawson and Rafiek Thomas.

Dawson scored 14 minutes into the game before Girvon Brown equalised for the UWI in the 58th minute. Rafiek Thomas sent Boys' Town ahead again in the 84th minute, shoring up victory for the hosts.

FC Reno held Rivoli to a 0-0 draw in a home encounter at the Frome Sports Complex.

Cavalier and Waterhouse draw 4-4.
