Jamaica's national swim squads (development, junior and senior) trained with former national coach Jackie Walter and former national swimmer Brad Hamilton during a four-day training camp at the National Aquatic Centre, Independence Park, this week.

Walter, who is the assistant swim coach at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was in Jamaica with her squad for a winter training programme.

Hamilton was the guest coach on Thursday morning.

With the start of the new swim term in a few days, swimmers are looking to refine their stroke techniques and focus on racing skills, and improve their times with a view to making the qualifying times for regional and international competitions to be held in 2016.

Among these competitions are the 2016 CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held in Martinique in March and the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships in the Bahamas in June.

Locally, two major meets to be held early this year are the 'Y' Speedos Karl Dalhouse International Memorial Swim Meet (January 29-31) and the Walter Rogers National Age Group Swimming Championships (February 9, 11-14) which will be an Olympic qualifier.
