February 23, 2016

Jamaica's Yona Knight-Wisdom had his name written down in the history books on Sunday when he became the first Jamaican male diver to qualify for the Olympics.

The 20-year-old also won Jamaica's first ever diving medal when he copped silver after a combined score of 459. 25 at FINA Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

His stellar feat did not just earn him a medal but created more history by securing him a place at the Olympic Games in August.

The elated diver could not hide his joy and took to Facebook to share his excitement.

"I don't believe that it's happened, but apparently I won a SILVER MEDAL at the 2016 DIVING WORLD CUP!! Genuinely waiting for someone to say April Fools," he wrote.
