The battle for the Red Stripe Premier League trophy will continue with two highly anticipated games, featuring the top four teams, following the conclusion of the preliminary stage last Sunday.

Promoted Portmore United FC topped the 12-team standings on 61 points and earned the $1- million incentive for that feat.

Defending champions Arnett Gardens came second on 60 points, followed by Montego Bay United (59) and Humble Lion (50).

Now the stage is set for some epic encounters in the two-way semi-finals to determine the two teams that will battle for the title.

Looking at the matchups, it will see Portmore tackling Humble Lion and Arnett Gardens against Montego Bay United (MBU). The games will play on a home-and-away format, starting next Sunday and Monday.

Portmore hold the advantage against Humble Lion as in three previous games this season, the Portmore team won twice and drew the other.

Though it must be noted that Humble Lion won the clash on the field when the teams met on January 24, Portmore was awarded full points because Humble Lion used in an ineligible player.

With that in mind, it could be a grudge game between the teams.

The semi-final game will be a rematch of last season's final between Arnett and MBU. In three previous matches this season, Arnett won twice and the other was drawn.

However, all that will count for nothing as the teams will go all out for places in the final.
