Expect Perfect run in Legal Light
PERFECT NEIGHBOUR should underline his status as the country's top two-turn horse by beating a crack field including stablemate SEEKING MY DREAM in tomorrow's 1820-metre Legal Light Trophy.
SEEKING MY DREAM heads the handicaps with 57.0 kilos, three pounds heavier than PERFECT NEIGHBOUR (56.0) and six more than FRANFIELD (54.5), who chased and beat him in the Chairman's Trophy on March 12.
Though FRANFIELD was 10lb lighter than SEEKING MY DREAM in the 1500-metre Chairman's Trophy, he is still in with a shot against the Diamond Mile winner over the longer distance of 1820 metres.
SEEKING MY DREAM, especially when challenged over two turns, tends to falter after a mile, making him suspect against the likes of FRANFIELD and, even more so, PERFECT NEIGHBOUR, whose only blemish at two turns last season was his third-place finish behind FRANFIELD when hindered in November's Superstakes.
PERFECT NEIGHBOUR returned in December's Harry Jackson Memorial to score a two-length victory over top imported filly LONG RUNNING TRAIN, arguably the most improved horse in training.
LONG RUNNING TRAIN, at 50.5 kilos, 15lb lighter than SEEKING MY DREAM, is light enough to take her chances by pouncing early down the backstretch, a likely tactic with the filly being in top form and on a hat-trick of wins.
With LONG RUNNING TRAIN as possible company down the backstretch and FRANFIELD lurking to pounce next, SEEKING MY DREAM's stamina limitations in top-class company is bound to be exposed. PERFECT NEIGHBOUR will join the fray with more in hand and should use superior stamina to outstay his faster rivals.
