Barbican, Marverley/Hughenden to meet in Super League final
Barbican and Maverley-Hughenden will meet in Friday's final of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association-J B Charley's Rum Super League following semi-final wins last Friday.
In the semi-finals at Constant Spring playing field, Barbican FC blanked Brown's Town FC 3-0 and Maverley-Hughenden edged Rockfort 2-1.
In the first game of the Friday night double-header in front of a jam-packed venue, Barbican advanced to the final, courtesy of a brace by Gregg Taylor in the 52nd and 81st minutes, and another goal by Nicholas Smith (32nd).
Maverley-Hughenden joined Barbican in the final courtesy of goals by Omari Edwards in the 23rd minute and substitute Roberto Fletcher in the 103rd minute during extra-time period.
The Super League final is scheduled on Friday at Constant Spring and the champion will collect the winning trophy and a $300,000 cash incentive, while the runner-up is guaranteed $250,000. The third- and fourth-placed teams will earn $200,000 and $150,000, respectively.
