Watch DaCosta's Hover Craft

PUNTERS will get their last look at trainer Wayne DaCosta's Jamaica Derby favourite, FUTURE KING, on Monday when he takes on three stablemates - ROYAL VIBES, HOVER CRAFT and the filly A THOUSAND STARS - plus TIMEFORARMS and dangerous MIRACLE STAR in Mark My Word Trophy at 1820 metres.

Though set as the third event by Caymanas Track Limited, suggesting unattractive to bettors, the open allowance event will, by no means, be handed to expected favourite FUTURE KING on a platter.

Donovan Plummer's MIRACLE STAR beat FUTURE KING into third place at a mile on February 20, beating the three-year-old by two-and-a-half lengths in his first and only race to date against older horses.

However, MIRACLE STAR's number was taken down following a lengthy stewards' enquiry due to interference to SHINING LIGHT along the rail in the stretch run.

In fact, had SHINING LIGHT not suffered interference, FUTURE KING would have had to settle for fourth in the 12-horse field.

Though he returned to win the 2000 Guineas seven weeks later, FUTURE KING is still suspect against older horses especially with MIRACLE STAR seven pounds better at the handicaps for their rematch and venturing over what is considered his pet trip.

MIRACLE STAR isn't FUTURE KING's only danger. His own stable companion, HOVER CRAFT, though not a two-turn horse, ran evenly among grade one runners in his last three races since convincingly beating MIRACLE STAR at 1500 metres on March 19.

Two of HOVER CRAFT's races against top-class horses were at 1820 metres, eight-and-a-quarter length losses behind LONG RUNNING TRAIN and SEEKING MY DREAM, respectively, the two best horses in training at Caymanas Park.

MIRACLE STAR did finish ahead of HOVER CRAFT in one of those events, the Legal Light Trophy a month ago. However, a line can be drawn through that effort as the race was won by HOVER CRAFT's stablemate, DaCosta's SEEKING MY DREAM, in whom all stable confidence was deposited.

The handicaps are in MIRACLE STAR's favour to turn the tables on HOVER CRAFT after allowing DaCosta's runner eight pounds and finishing ahead of him in the Legal Light trophy.

However, DaCosta summoning leading jockey Omar Walker to partner HOVER CRAFT suggests he has a Plan B up his sleeve for MIRACLE STAR, who seemingly has FUTURE KING's ticket.
