World Juniors camp for GC Foster College
The nation's best junior athletes should soon be training at the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sports in preparation for the World Under-20 Championships. According to Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) president, Dr. Warren Blake, negotiations are underway to finalise the camp arrangements. The camp will also feature grooming and interviewing skills.
Impossible last year because the G.C. Foster track was being re-laid, the camps will take advantage of a new surface that was completed in October.
"The track is lovely," said the JAAA president in an interview last week.
"We're just trying to negotiate the rates for the dormitory and we are putting in a place a medical facility," he said.
"The medical facility will be for the care of the athletes, who will also receive guidance on grooming and media interviewing skills.
"We want to improve them all around," he added.
The camp dates are to be finalised, but the intent is to continue until the eve of the team's departure to the World Under-20 Championships, which are set for July 19-24 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
