Parsard's Long Running dream
TRAINER Harry Parsard believes LONG RUNNING TRAIN has a shot against SEEKING MY DREAM in Saturday's Prime Minister's Stakes.
The handicaps has SEEKING MY DREAM 16lb heavier than LONG RUNNING TRAIN, sparking Parsard's hopes that the United States-bred filly will reverse a five-and-a-quarter length loss from April's Legal Light Trophy.
"I don't think so," he said when asked whether he believes SEEKING MY DREAM has become an invincible.
"I am coming to run a good race, so is SEEKING MY DREAM and other horses in the race. Fifty kilos to 57.0, she should give a good account. I know SEEKING MY DRAM is the class horse but, with the weight disparity, we should run a good race," he added.
Good luck to him because 15-time champion trainer believes SEEKING MY DREAM is the best horse he has ever conditioned.
"Right now he is in fine form, enjoying his work and happy. He has a great chance of winning but nothing is written in stone," DaCosta said yesterday, saying a loss for SEEKING MY DREAM would be an off-day.
"Just like humans, he may wake up on the wrong side one morning. I suspect he is no different," DaCosta said of last year's Derby and Diamond Mile winner.
SEEKING MY DREAM faces three stablemates - PERFECT NEIGHBOUR, A THOUSAND STARS and HOVER CRAFT - in addition to Anthony Nunes' HIUDINI'S MAGIC and Parsard's LONG RUNNING TRAIN.
A United States-bred filly, LONG RUNNING TRAIN was touted at the back end of last season as the horse to dominate distance races in 2016 after finishing second to PERFECT NEIGHBOUR in December's Harry Jackson Memorial.
However, she was blown away by SEEKING MY DREAM in the Legal Light Trophy.
"Those last two runs make him the best horse I have ever rained. All of them have good points but SEEKINGMY DREAM has proven that he has trained on. Winning with 57.0 kilos, which all great horses do, has proven him," DaCosta revealed.
In his last run, SEEKING MY DREAM flashed past the winning post almost two seconds ahead of stablemate POKER STAR in the 1400-metre Eros Trophy on July 9, a resounding stakes-record, nine-length win after joining the champion sprinter from three furlongs out.
In his previous race, the Legal Light Trophy, April 23, he was a full second ahead of LONG RUNNING TRAIN - carrying topweight 57.0 kilos on both occasions.
