American sprinter turns to bobsled after missing Olympics

American sprinter Ryan Bailey has transitioned from the track to bobsled.

Bailey, who finished fifth in the 100m dash at the London Olympics in 2012, is said to have taken up the winter sport.

According to nbcsports.com, "Bailey "set the bar" in combine tests ahead of Saturday’s U.S. push championships for prospective push athletes on two-[man] and four-man bobsleds, according to U.S. Bobsled."

If he makes it on to the US national bobsled team, Bailey, who was not part of the 2016 US Olympic team that competed in Brazil earlier this month, would not be the first American athlete to take up the sport. Sprinter Lauryn Williams and hurdler Lola Jones have both done the sport at the Winter Olympic Games.
